	November 2005 – Not only is this house ugly, but it’s burned in the back; the roof leaks; the basement walls are crumbling, and its full of asbestos! It’s too dirty to rehab, so let’s tear it down and start over.

In Schenectady Thrivent will pay 65 percent of the project cost for a new house at 341 Schenectady Street. Local Lutheran churches will contribute another 10 percent, and provide volunteers to help with construction.

Family Partner

My name is Margaret Mcfee and I am a single mother. I have four children and I live in Schenectady NY. I am also a Grandmother of two and two on the way. All my life I have been working to support my family. It has been very hard do in the times that we are living in so I always had to work extra hard to afford the housing and the bills. My oldest daughter has always been my back bone and now that she has to go on with her own family I am so very grateful for this opportunity. The four of us are really looking forward to this chance of a new start. In my household I have my second daughter Toni and my son Anthony who is the only boy and my seven year old daughter Takeya we look forward to making many new memories.

May 2007	Install foundation and under-slab plumbing.
June 2007	Pour slab, erect walls, and install roof trusses and sheathing.
July 2007	Install roofing and siding.
August 2007	Install windows and exterior doors, build porch, shingle the roof, install heating system, do rough plumbing, connect sewer and water service.
September 2007	Install rough electrical, insulate, hang drywall. Install driveway apron, and landscape the lot.
October 2007	Tape drywall, install interior doors and trim, paint interior.
November 2007	Install cabinets and floor covering, finish plumbing and electrical, install appliances.
December 2007	House dedication ceremony.
