This same miracle will be happening in many places that first week of June. Professional home builders across the country are coming together for Habitat’s largest build ever. These builders will bring together the materials, labor and energy needed to construct 1,000 houses from the ground up. And they will do it all in one week.

The Capital Region Builders & Remodelers Association, http://www.crbra.com/, is driving the Blitz Build in Schenectady.

In 2002-03. his health began to deteriorate, due to an injury he had suffered when he fell on his back while in the military. He had spinal fusion surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center. As a result of this condition, he cannot do any prolonged standing or walking. This disability had a profound effect on his ability to do his job, and, as a result, he had to resign from his position and file for Social Security disability benefits because he could no longer work. He was awarded SSD benefits in 2003.

Their 20-year-old son, Pooran, did not finish high school, and, instead is attending Job Corps training in Glenmont where he can learn the trade he is interested in--auto body repair and welding. Thanks to the Job Corps, he will not only learn a trade, he will also earn his GED and receive drivers' training. He also loves music and drawing.

A student at Schenectady High School, 17-year-old Amar is a junior studying music and plays the tuba and guitar. He is studying the guitar as part of the music program at Schenectady High School.
