GE Employees - you can log your Habitat for Humanity in Schenectady County
volunteer hours on the GE Volunteer Portal.
This link should connect you to the 2010 Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady
County flexible time event on the GE Volunteer Portal.
If the above link does not work properly, please try the following steps
to access the proper page on the GE Volunteer
Portal. These instructions are also available via the
downloadable document ge-volunteer-portal.pdf
-
In the Location field of your browser enter
http://volunteers.gecompany.com/volunteers/ and press the enter key.
-
You will be prompted by the familiar SSO login screen. Enter
your SSO number and password and press enter.
-
You will then be taken to the Volunteer Portal page. On this
page, click on the "Login to Volunteer Portal" link.
-
After successfully logging into the GE Volunteer Portal, you
will need to locate the Habitat for Humanity Schenectady County entry. For
that, first click on the "Advance Search" Link in the Search for
an event region of the screen.
-
The Habitat for Humanity Schenectady County volunteer
opportunity listing on the GE Volunteer portal is entered
as a flexible opportunity. So, on the Search for Events page, click on the "Flexible
Opportunities" tab to property direct the search.
-
Now in the search region of the page (on the right of
the window), enter "Habitat" in the Keywords field and "Schenectady"
in the City field. Then scroll down to find and click on the "Submit"
button.
-
On the Habitat for Humanity Schenectady entry click on the
"Sign Up" button. Note: If you anticipate that you will be
entering hours for Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County in the future,
you may wish to bookmark the event page once you have this point. However,
we have found that the bookmark retains some portion of your account
information, so it will be unique to the individual, which is why we cannot
simply provide a direct bookmark to the event page (we tried and found that
hours would not be properly recorded).
-
Enter your volunteer hours in the "Hours" box, the current
date and time for the "Start" fields, and type any comments or information
you care to provide in the "Questions/Comments" edit box and click on the
"Submit" button.
As stated earlier, the instructions are also available via
the downloadable document ge-volunteer-portal.pdf
which is a sequence of screen shots with annotated instructions of the above
process.
Note that, with our event being a Flexible Opportunity,
you can approach your hour logging in a variety of ways since there is no
specific date for the opportunity. Some individuals log hours for a specific
day if they are volunteering on just a few occasions. If someone is
volunteering on a fairly regular basis, they might log their hours on a
weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, or just periodically. Whatever the
case, you may want to enter a few words of explanation into the comments
section.
